Orioles Have Strong Start
The Baltimore Orioles have come out swinging in 2024. They currently have a record of 28-20 and are in first place in the AL East. A combination of young talent and a few key offseason acquisitions is greatly responsible for the turnaround in season; which is in stark contrast to their losing record last year.
Key Acquisitions
- James McCann: The Orioles signed McCann to a one-year deal in the offseason. He has been a key contributor, both offensively and defensively.
- Cole Irvin: The Orioles traded for Irvin in the offseason and he has given them a solid innings eater at the back end of the rotation.
- Kyle Gibson: The Orioles also traded for Gibson in the offseason and he has been a key part of their rotation.
Young Players Step Up
- Gunnar Henderson: Henderson is one of the top prospects in baseball and he has made an immediate impact in the majors. So far, he has 8 leadoff homers.
- Cedric Mullins: Mullins is another young player who is having a breakout season. He is currently batting .300 with 10 home runs and 30 RBIs.
Outlook
The Orioles are looking like a team on the rise. They have a good mix of young talent and veteran leadership. If they can stay healthy, they have a chance to make a run at the playoffs.
