Trump Ordered to Pay $454 Million in Fraud Judgment

Judge Formally Signs Order in Civil Lawsuit

Former President Faces Major Financial Setback

A New York judge has formally ordered Donald Trump to pay $454 million, including interest, in a civil fraud judgment. The move marks a major financial setback for the former president.

The judgment was entered by a clerk in New York on Friday, officially entering a more than $464 million judgment against Trump and top executives at his family real estate company.

The order comes after Trump failed to secure a roughly half-billion dollar bond in the case. As a result, he may face difficulty posting bail and potentially spending time in jail.

The judgment is the result of a lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who accused Trump and his company of exaggerating the value of their assets in order to obtain loans and tax benefits.

The lawsuit alleged that Trump and his company engaged in a "scheme to deceive" banks, insurers, and tax authorities about the value of a range of assets, including Trump Tower in Manhattan and other properties.

As a result of the judgment, Trump may face significant financial consequences, including the loss of control over some of his assets and the imposition of a personal financial penalty.
